GenCare Premium is a comprehensive genetic and multi-cancer screening package offered by MEDLATEC in Vietnam.
The package combines hereditary cancer risk assessment, genetic testing for other health conditions, carrier screening for recessive genetic disorders common in Vietnam, and SPOT-MAS 10 blood-based multi-cancer screening.
By bringing together inherited genetic risk assessment and molecular cancer signal screening, GenCare Premium provides information that may support personalised preventive healthcare planning, reproductive health discussions, and further medical evaluation when appropriate.
What Is Included in GenCare Premium?
GenCare Premium combines four complementary testing components.
This component analyses 145 genes associated with 30 hereditary cancer conditions.
It aims to identify inherited genetic variants that may be associated with increased susceptibility to certain cancers.
The results may help healthcare professionals discuss personalised screening recommendations, risk management strategies, and whether additional genetic counselling or family assessment is appropriate.
A hereditary cancer risk result does not indicate whether cancer is currently present.
This component examines 34 genes associated with 30 other health conditions included in MEDLATEC's genetic testing panel.
It provides additional information about selected inherited genetic factors that may be relevant to an individual's long-term health.
The clinical significance of each finding depends on the specific gene, variant classification, medical history, and available scientific evidence.
GenCare Premium includes carrier screening for 18 recessive genetic disorders covered by a 19-gene panel focused on conditions relevant to the Vietnamese population.
Individuals who carry a disease-causing variant for an autosomal recessive condition are often healthy and may not know they are carriers.
If both biological parents carry disease-causing variants in the same gene associated with an autosomal recessive condition, each pregnancy may have a 25% chance of resulting in an affected child.
This component may be particularly relevant to individuals or couples considering future family planning.
Carrier screening may help patients:
Understand carrier status for selected inherited disorders.
Identify findings relevant to reproductive planning.
Discuss whether partner testing may be appropriate.
Seek genetic counselling to understand potential risks to future children.
A negative carrier screening result does not eliminate all reproductive or genetic risks.
GenCare Premium also includes SPOT-MAS 10, a blood-based molecular screening test designed to analyse biological signals associated with 10 cancer types.
The cancer types covered include:
SPOT-MAS 10 uses next-generation sequencing (NGS) and computational analysis to evaluate cancer-associated molecular signals in blood.
Unlike hereditary genetic testing, SPOT-MAS 10 examines biological signals that may be associated with an existing cancer.
However, SPOT-MAS 10 is a screening test, not a diagnostic test. An abnormal result requires further clinical assessment, and a negative result does not completely exclude cancer.
Key Benefits of GenCare Premium
GenCare Premium combines several testing approaches, providing information about hereditary cancer susceptibility, other genetic health conditions, reproductive carrier status, and molecular signals associated with selected cancers.
The 145-gene hereditary cancer panel covers 30 hereditary cancer conditions, offering a broader assessment than smaller genetic panels.
Genetic findings may help healthcare professionals recommend appropriate clinical evaluation, personalised screening strategies, and additional genetic counselling where indicated.
The 19-gene carrier screening panel may provide useful information for individuals and couples planning to have children, particularly when discussing recessive genetic conditions relevant to the Vietnamese population.
The package includes a blood-based test that evaluates biological signals associated with 10 cancer types, providing an additional screening component alongside hereditary genetic risk assessment.
Certain inherited genetic findings may also be relevant to biological relatives. Genetic counselling can help determine whether family members should consider further assessment.
Who May Consider GenCare Premium?
GenCare Premium may be considered by individuals who:
Want to discuss a comprehensive genetic health assessment.
Have a personal or family history of cancer.
Have relatives diagnosed with cancer at relatively young ages.
Have a family history suggestive of hereditary genetic conditions.
Are planning to have children and wish to discuss carrier screening.
Want to explore inherited health risks as part of preventive healthcare planning.
Have been advised by a healthcare professional to consider expanded genetic testing.
The package is not necessarily appropriate for everyone. Test selection should be guided by personal medical history, family history, individual risk factors, and professional advice.
Testing Process
A healthcare professional reviews the patient's medical history, family history, screening goals, and suitability for the package.
Genetic counselling may be recommended before testing to explain the possible findings and their implications.
Biological samples are collected according to MEDLATEC's requirements for the genetic testing panels and SPOT-MAS 10.
The laboratory performs the relevant genetic analyses and molecular cancer signal screening.
Results are generally expected in approximately 15 working days, subject to laboratory confirmation. Different components may have different reporting schedules.
A qualified healthcare professional reviews the findings and discusses whether additional screening, genetic counselling, partner testing, or diagnostic evaluation may be appropriate.
Understanding Your Results
A pathogenic or likely pathogenic inherited variant may indicate increased susceptibility to a particular condition. It does not mean the condition is currently present or will definitely develop.
A negative result does not eliminate all hereditary risks.
Carrier status may be relevant to reproductive planning. Depending on the condition and inheritance pattern, testing a biological partner may be recommended.
An abnormal cancer screening result does not confirm cancer. Additional clinical investigation may be required.
A negative SPOT-MAS 10 result does not completely exclude cancer and should not replace established screening recommendations.

Important Medical Information
GenCare Premium combines hereditary genetic risk assessment, carrier screening, and molecular cancer signal screening. These components have different clinical purposes and limitations.
Hereditary genetic testing does not diagnose an existing cancer. Carrier screening does not determine whether an individual has cancer. SPOT-MAS 10 is not a definitive diagnostic test and should not replace guideline-recommended cancer screening methods.
A negative result does not eliminate all cancer, genetic, or reproductive risks.
Results should be interpreted by appropriately qualified healthcare professionals, with genetic counselling where indicated. Further clinical evaluation may be necessary depending on the findings.
